Volunteer

In our own lives, each of us was touched by someone other than our parents
who broadened our horizons and brought a little magic into our lives.  By becoming a
Big Brother or Big Sister, you can do the same for a child.  And you will both be forever changed by the experience.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah offers a variety of volunteer experiences.
We have several different programs, each serving a unique population of children.

Review the opportunities below and then register for a volunteer orientation to learn more about our program. Click here to find out when orientations are held.

 The Community-Based Program
Volunteer mentor “BIGS” and children “LITTLES”  in our Community-Based Program meet between 2-4 times each month for a one-year commitment and do fun activities together, such as going to the park, walking a dog, making arts and crafts, hiking, fishing, studying, whatever, is fun for both the BIG and LITTLE.  Children enrolling in the program are between the ages of 6 and 18.  This Program is available in Salt Lake, Davis, Wasatch, Summit and Washington Counties.

 The Voices Program
Serves teen girls ages 12-18 and is only open to female volunteers.  The girls voluntarily enroll in a life skills class at their school to discuss peer pressure, body image, and other issues facing teen girls.  We ask volunteers for a one-year commitment to spend one hour a week with the Little Sister doing activities like playing sports, window shopping, talking, and simply hanging out.

 The School-Based Program
A partnership with local schools where volunteers commit to meet with a child on the school grounds for one hour per week during the school year with a one-year commitment.  Volunteers have fun eating lunch with the child, going to the school library, playing on the playground or making arts and crafts projects.

 Other Opportunities
Ok, so maybe you aren't interested in working with a child, but still would like to be an asset to the agency.  Or, maybe you are already matched with a Little Brother or Little Sister, but also want to help with the interior of the agency.  Either way, we offer a wide variety of other opportunities that may interest you to volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah.
